Protection of Minors Webinar Series

Learn practical strategies to prevent abuse, supervise safe programs, and respond to concerns, helping you create a safer environment for youth at Oregon State. This training is offered in partnership with OSU Youth Protection and Praesidium, combining local expertise with nationally recognized best practices. Open to anyone in the OSU community.

A written application and background check only tell part of the story. Effective screening means digging deeper. In this session, we’ll unpack strategies for going beyond generic questions to uncover patterns of behavior and values alignment. Learn how to structure behavior-based interviews, conduct reference checks that yield meaningful insights, and confidently address potential red flags.

Authorized Adult Training

All youth program personnel must complete training before working with minors and renew annually. Required content includes recognizing and reporting child abuse, prevention strategies, and compliance with OSU’s Protection of Minors Policy.
